For to redeem our souls from thrall

What Christianity has done better than perhaps anything else in the west is unify so many different disciplines with one ethic. To step into even a small chapel such as that at Petit Trianon is to see that. To see Christian art is to stare into an ocean clear all the way down. To see such beauty from multiple disciplines at the same time unified so as to create something coherent rather than discordant is awe inspiring. Had I not already found a path of my own, I might have adopted Christianity, not for the faith but for art. It’s from Christian art and its portraiture that I found the power of the red, green, blue, and gold palatte.
