Evening space

I’ve taken two steps forward with photography at once. While in Paris earlier this month, I started taking exposure bracketed photos. This means that my camera would take a photo using the selected exposure, then another at +1 exposure correction and a third at -1 exposure correction. I did this having decided to commit to buying Lightroom which enables bracketed photos to be merged so that the benefits of each shot can be combined into one creating high dynamic range. I’m still at an early stage with Lightroom, but the exposure bracketing is already rewarding. I have much to learn, but I’m confident not just in my ability to learn and to experiment without fear.

The first shot I merged in this way is Bonjour Ma Reine. Another is below. While merged, there is no actual edit. This produces a near negative space effect that I love.

Evening shot of a switched off fountain appearing to blend with the land in the growing darkness

This edited version is technically a better photo with better colour tones and draws out more details, but loses the negative space effect in this process.

Evening shot of a switched off fountain and treeline reflected in the water

Experiments will continue.
